Our faith is often questioned and criticized. Sometimes wittingly and sometimes unwittingly, our Mormon neighbors raise criticisms against our faith. Although it is true that we both hold to the name "Jesus Christ," and we share a common set of political values, there exists a great chasm between our faiths. The materials in this section are not an attempt at bridging that gulf. Rather, it is our sincere desire to defend our faith against the criticisms that have been raised against it. This section of our website is not in any way intended to be an "anti-Mormon" section. Rather, in this section we intend to answer some of the "anti-Baptist" and "anti-Christian" rhetoric that we frequently encounter.
We hope that you will read this material with a willing ear, desiring to give us a hearing. We would like even more if you would carefully consider the Scriptural arguments that are presented here. If you would like the opportunity to respond to the material in this section, please send an e-mail to [email protected]. We would be delighted to correspond on some of these issues.
Naturally, we understand that you may not agree with the answers given here. Granted, some of those disagreements will result from our fundamentally different approaches to Scriptural interpretation. What you interpret one way we interpret differently. Naturally, this does not provide anyone with a legitimate cause for dismissal. After all, the Bible is God's Word, and God has an intended meaning for every passage. The fact that people vary in their interpretations does not at all undermine the authority of Scripture. We firmly believe that it is our duty to come to right conclusions drawn from Scripture. Though there may be a miriad of interpretations, each passage of Scripture has one intended meaning. That meaning should be obvious from a study of the words and of the context of the passage. "Proof-texting" has become a popular pastime in our current religious climate. But we must not fail to understand the whole counsel of God. By comparing Scripture with Scripture, we know that we can find the true meaning of any passage of Scripture.
Finally, we count it a great privilege to live and serve in Ogden, Utah. By God's grace, we have had the privilege of making the acquaintence of many good Mormon people. You are our neighbors and our friends, and we value the relationship we have with you. Thank you so much for browsing through our material.
